On March 26, Officer Rivera responded to the Bet Tora Synagogue in Mount Kisco for a report of child having a seizure. Upon arrival, Rivera encountered an infant who was breathing but unresponsive and suffering from an apparent high fever.
Rivera removed the infant's clothing, used ice packs to reduce body temperature and monitored the infant's vital signs until EMS arrived.
Shortly after the arrival of Mount Kisco EMS, the infant became responsive.
Officer Rivera's quick and decisive action was potentially lifesaving and commended by the infant's family and the Synagogue's Executive Director and congregation.
